Riku Rantala
Awarded the Top Male TV personality in Finland in 2008, Riku Rantala has become a fan favorite among the
audiences fed up with fake, banal and predictable television. His sometimes harsh, take-no-prisoners attitude
towards TV reporting earned him both accolades and disapproval, but never indifference.
Riku’s career started after studying in several universities including the Finnish Military Academy
and the University of Journalism & Mass Communication. He first worked as the investigative crime reporter
in the biggest daily newspaper of Scandinavia, Helsingin Sanomat.
After getting into long haul traveling with the childhood friend Tunna Milonoff, Riku quit the rat race and
started Gimmeyawallet Productions together with Tunna in 2001. In their first production, “Madventures” (2002),
Riku’s share was to write, present and produce the eight-month-long journey into 12 episodes. The show went on
to make Finnish television history.
After the success of the first series, production and hosting duties have been his responsibility in the
following seasons of “Madventures.”??Riku is also the writer of the award-winning travel book
“Madventures – International Adventurist’s Manual,” together with Tunna. The book is currently in its seventh edition.
Tunna Milonoff
Tunna Milonoff is the director and the cinematographer of Madventures, but it is his twisted imagination and
curiosity towards everything bizarre that is usually to blame for the often-unorthodox storylines. There are
no aspects of the show this perfectionist doesn’t get involved in.
Brought up in the backstage of one of the most respected theaters in Finland, Tunna had been acting as a kid
but always felt his place was behind the camera. After abandoning his studies of cultural anthropology, Tunna
spent years exploring Europe and Asia with his backpack and his camera. He then made a five-year career as a
gaffer in several feature films, popular TV series and hundreds of TV commercials and music videos.
Known as the director with a fresh, in-your-face approach and rough-edged, yet beautiful visuals, Tunna has received
several awards for his original vision. These include the Finnish Emmy Awards for Best Show in 2008, Best Entertainment
Show in 2006 and two Finnish Media & Message awards in 2005.
Besides many Madventures-related projects, Tunna co-directed Gimmeyawallet’s first film project “Monte Rosso,”
a 38-minute short, which was funded by the Finnish Film Fund and the National Broadcasting Company and released
on TV and in theaters in 2008.
